Red Pepper Sauce Pizza
Day one of "cook something new everyday" has begun. I am starting off slow. I am not going through the Julia Child cookbook...this is not a movie. Although, sometimes I do enjoy affecting a silly accent when I am in the kitchen.
After a quick trip to Trader Joes, I was ready to make my pizza. TJ's whole wheat pizza dough is awesome, but one of these days I am going to make my own dough. I digress. The main part of this pizza (and the new thing I made) was the red pepper sauce. It's sort of a pesto sauce, but you would use it as the tomato sauce on the pizza. Thank God for my new food processor. For those of you that don't have one, GET ONE. NOW. RUN. It's the bomb-diggity; what used to take me 30 minutes now takes about 2.5 seconds. Roasted garlic, roasted peppers (I roast mine directly over the flame on the stove), basil, S & P, OO. Simple. Delicious.
Ok, so making a pizza is not going to win me any cooking awards, but it was good. I am pretty sure that if I had several pizza stones my friends would want to come over for a pizza party. Speaking of pizza stones, a special shout out to my girl Felicia for gifting me this awesome All-Clad soapstone pizza stone. I love it almost as much as I like my food processor. Almost.
While I was prepping the kitchen for the chaos that would ensue, I put on my apron. Let me tell you about my apron. It was free. It's a Star Ledger "The Voice of New Jersey" cartoon strip apron. The little voice inside my head said "This will just not do". I need to look like a bad ass in the kitchen, and this apron just ain't cuttin' it. Time to make a trip to Vintage Religion, where I hope to procure something with skulls on it. You have to look the part to be the part.
I am pretty sure Rob will look good wearing my Cartoon apron, so it won't go to waste. Afterall, Rob is in charge of clean up in this whole mess! But, he is quite happy to clean up after me when the food is "fucking awesome".
