breaking bread
If you have ever made bread from scratch, without a bread maker, you probably know a few things that I don't. First, bread requires a lot of flour. Second, many recipes are for some ridiculous number like 6 loaves of bread. What home baker needs that much bread at one time?! Third, once your ingredients are all mixed, the dough makes one hell of a mess and sticks to your hands like glue. It's actually kind of gross. It's not like that awesome feeling of mud between your toes (come one, you know you love that feeling!); it's more like something out of a horror movie where the stupid girl gets tangled in a spiderweb while running away from the psycho killer with the [insert favorite weapon here]. Lastly, there is a lot of sitting around waiting for the bread to rise...that's what SHE said!!!
My whole wheat honey bread actually turned out quite delicious, despite the fact that I did not wait the alloted time for the bread to rise "1-1.5 inches above the loaf pan". Best of all? Rob's amazement at how I made a pattern on the top of the bread. I told him it's magic....
Rob is already getting a little tired of "all this dish washing bullshit", but I am confident that once he starts wearing that cartoon apron, life will get better.
